Handmade kitchens have always been and continue to be the crowning creation of a home. The uniqueness of a handmade kitchen is that you can make it how you want it. With the flexibility of designing and making it, a handcrafted kitchen can fit your lifestyle. Working with them reflects our knowledge and traditions and our admiration for craftspeople. Both our company and our products are unique. This guide will introduce you to the kitchen of your heart’s desire—a kitchen made to your specifications in small or large details, sometimes without measurements. And sometimes finish at our workshop where you can come visit. Our workshop’s specialities are made to last. We will describe the materials and their craftsmanship talents to show why they differ.
You can have a handmade kitchen in three ways: made from scratch, fitting new doors to your new or existing cabinets, or updating your existing cabinets. The original and ultimate bespoke kitchen is made from scratch. Crafting handmade kitchens takes some time. Since we customise each kitchen, you should expect a design period around your schedule and a crafting period from eight weeks to six months, possibly more depending on the style and size of your kitchen. Consider how long your new kitchen will stay and decide whether you’re prepared to spend extra time achieving the right look, even if it takes a while. We only start crafting your kitchen when we receive confirmation from you that your order matches your plan. We don’t have stock, but we always have a waiting list.
Choosing the Right Design and Style
Whether updating a tired scheme or embarking on a complete redesign, choosing the right design and style for your handmade kitchen is important. One of the first things to consider is whether you hope to achieve a traditional look, a more modern design, or even a contemporary interpretation of a classic style. It’s also a good idea to think about the layout of your space and the kitchen-dining-living arrangement. To streamline decision-making further, considering your colour scheme, including your wall colour, fixtures, and any existing flooring, doors, and door furniture, is often helpful.
When choosing a design aesthetic, achieving a space that reflects your style while remaining practical and functional is increasingly essential. It’s often nice to explore different sources of inspiration. Consider a professional kitchen designer an excellent place to start. Another tip is to start an account where you can save your favourite kitchen ideas to a file. This is where likes and dislikes, needs and ideas should be jotted down. It’s also worth considering the overall feel of your home: your kitchen is, after all, the heart of the house, and the design should flow seamlessly into the rest of your scheme. Every kitchen is beautifully laminated with a hand-painted finish and mass-produced explicitly for the buyer and the property.
Customisation Options and Features
Whether ordering a bespoke or a standard kitchen, we aim to help you find a kitchen ideally suited to you and your home. Therefore, we offer many options for tailoring the process to make the kitchen unique. Consider changes you may want to make to any elements of the layout, door designs, configuration of drawers, or storage cupboards suitable for you. Would you like different internal features for the cabinets and drawers that would make items like pots and pans, cutlery, and crockery where you want them rather than where the designer decided to put them? Then you might choose worktops that are easier to maintain or aesthetically more suited to your requirements, colour and finish from our selection of over 2,500 popular choices, or select appliances that combine the most modern features with a vintage look. Whether you choose one of our standard cabinets first and then add the finishes and features to set the kitchen off as perfectly unique to you or want the whole kitchen built unique to your requirements, our designers will be able to guide you every step of the way. Cabinetwork – Choose to have painted, stained in a natural wood shade, or lacquered, and if you choose paint for your door and cabinet fronts, have the inside of your cabinets painted or lacquered to match or left natural to see the wood texture. Finishing Touches – Choose from knobs or handles for your door and drawer linings and cabinet frieze moulding styles. Choose from many styles for the frame and fits of your surfaces, such as painted, blemished, sanded, and burnished. Choose from various worktop surfaces, from robust blockwood to unique stone finishes. Choose from banking plate racks, pine and glass-fronted wall furnishings, wine racks, and other special features for cabinet interiors.
Storage: Add the touch-to-open system, soft-closing larder, pantry, or glass tambour door with wooden spice racks for additional and elegant storage. Aesthetics or believability, that is the question. Genuine or faux, which and why? When you choose what features and finishes you want to go with, we want you to consider the reasons as much as the look. You would like a couple of different finishes next to each other or some features in one design that you cannot get with others. Remember the balance of practicality with personal style; that is our Kitchen Inspiration philosophy. Good selections work and look right for you.
Ordering Process and Timeline
To begin work on your handmade kitchen, please contact us or by emailing us. Our typical process for starting your project includes consulting our kitchen designer to discuss how we can help bring your kitchen design ideas to life. Our kitchen designer will tour you around our showroom, kitchens under construction, and complete kitchens to give you a good picture of what we can achieve. You should also compile a quick list of things you love in your kitchen and things you would change. This would include what you love and don’t love about your appliances, design, flow, unit layout, and storage to tell your kitchen story. Once you have registered your interest, we will invite you to a telephone or in-person consultation and discuss the way forward. The next step is a home visit to take measurements for bespoke commissions.
We can then start to design your kitchen; this will either be carried out in the showroom or via remote working. Once this is completed, we will send over a product proposal, which includes a 3D version of your space, a breakdown of your kitchen furniture and options available, plus a quote.
It usually takes 6 to 8 weeks to complete the design process for unfitted cabinets. Once the design has been approved, it takes 2 to 4 weeks to confirm the cost of the appliance estimate and delivery charges and a further 8 to 12 weeks for our team to convert your bespoke kitchen. These time frames are purely an estimate only. One can only gauge a more accurate delivery date once the actual kitchen proposal or quotation has been finalised, as every kitchen project is dependent on not only the size and complexity of the design but also on what time of year the order is placed and the availability of materials and finishers either locally or from Europe.
Installation Kitchen and Aftercare of Your Kitchen
The installation process can begin once you receive your kitchen materials, which are ready for assembly. We always recommend you use a professional to agree on the final measurements of your kitchen and to organise and carry out the fitting of your kitchen. This will ensure that your kitchen is built to our specifications and is of trade quality. They will also be able to deal with any issues during the installation. To prepare for your kitchen delivery, ensure the space has been cleared of all old kitchens and flooring and that there is no plastering or decorating work to be done after delivery. This ensures your kitchen has no effect from dust or paint splatters. Remember to be very delicate during the installation process. All our kitchens are handmade and should be handled appropriately. Please note that, as wood is a natural material, there is always some flexibility when it comes to aligning the cabinetry in your room, meaning that minor dimension adjustments may need to be made at the time of fitting. With your approved kitchen designer, your joiner will agree on final plumbing and electricity locations. Your fitters usually remove old kitchen materials. Please confirm with them before delivery. Once installation is complete, we will prepare a suitable removal and recycling service for the waste generated. Once your kitchen is installed, the joy of using it begins. Fitting only takes 2-3 days, and this investment in your home pays back by adding value to your property. Your new kitchen will transform your living space’s look, feel, and atmosphere, and everyone’s first reaction is: Wow! The kitchen is said to be the heart of the home – enjoy your new heart. Our kitchens are handmade from high-quality materials. A well-built handmade kitchen is a long-term investment requiring some care and maintenance. We supply detailed maintenance and aftercare guidelines for kitchen installation handovers. This also includes dealing with normal wear and tear and minor subsequent surface adjustments that need to be addressed throughout the lifetime of your kitchen. Follow the steps in our kitchen care guide, and you will enjoy your kitchen for many years.
